This is a frequently asked question. Dogs are not colorblind, but they see color differently than we do.
An average dog sees similar to a human person that is red-green colorblind. Consequently, the dog’s world consists of yellows, blues, and grays. When a human perceives a red object it appears as yellow to the dog, while a green object appears as white, a shade of gray.
Rain coats that fit large dogs or deep chested dogs are hard to find. Luckily, there are a couple of brands that make coats that fit these guys and girls! We know, since we have Newfoundlands and they are big and have big chests.
The following coats would be good for the bigger chested varieties such as Boston Terriers, Pugs, Pit bulls, Boxers, Giant breeds, such as Newfoundlands, Great Pyrenees, Leonbergers, Saint Bernards, Bernese Mountain Dogs, etc, etc, etc. Make sure to measure your dog’s length and girth and follow the sizing charts.

Wow! So I figured out how to use my Cannon Camera and make little videos of Shanti and Indie. And just in time before Indie grows up! Here is one from when Indie was about 14 weeks old.
The NY Post has a nice article about safe pet toys. Do you ever wonder if there are any harmful toxins in your pet toys? They chew on toys, hold them in their mouth, may actually ingest some parts of it. When that happens, you want to make sure there is nothing harmful in these toys.
Healthystuff.org is a website that lists pet toys that have been tested (as well as children’s toys, etc) for toxicity in pet toys. Go check it out and see if the pet products you give your pet are safe.
Some of the products that are definitely safe are the eco-friendly products of West Paw, such as the Bumi and Simply Fido, such as Oscar the Monkey
Trooper is a 1 ½ year old Wirehaired Pointing Griffon. He weighs 65 lbs and stands 26 inches tall at the shoulder. He lives in Boise, Idaho. He loves being active, the more exercise the better, he can’t get enough. Some of his favorite pastimes include chewing on things (although he is slowly growing out of that), running, retrieving, swimming and spending time with his human family. He loves to go camping, where his family usually boats and hikes. He hasn’t seen the ocean yet but we know that he would LOVE it and spend most of his time in the water! He also has a family farm that he has so much fun at where he gets to be around other dogs and farm animals and has ample space to run around. He is definitely in touch with his hunting dog instincts and points at almost every animal, especially birds. He has worn his Red Dingo Reflective collar, that we bought for him on our summer vacation in 2008 at Four Paws on The Beach, his whole life.
It’s that time of the year again! Indie went to his very own Christmas party. Poor Shanti had to stay home because it was a bit too much to bring her with 4 months old Indie. Next year they both get to go! (when they are all nicely mannered
Indie was very proud wearing his jingle bell collar.

The Christmas party is with a bunch of relatives of Indie. There are games to be had, food to be eaten and presents to be exchanged. One of the games was “retrieve the bumper with swimming goggles on”. Look at Indie in his stylish purple goggles!
Indie with Purple Goggles
Now mind you, the game was to wear the goggles, someone would throw a bumper, Indie has to run to it (with goggles on!), pick it up, and return it! And all this with goggles at 4 months old! He has never returned anything before in his life!!! And we have tried! Now look at the next picture!
Indie retrieving bumper with goggles!
Indie ran up to the bumper and returned it to me! He rocked! He won the game! Isn’t he cool?
