Indie

I am Indie!

I am Indie!

Indie (born on July 4th, 2009) is our third Newfie. He was born on Independence Day. Indie is quite the explorer. He is very curious and loves to observe and watch. He is really cool taking places, because he is very content to sit next to you and watch the world go by.

Indie is also very food motivated! Luckily, this makes him easy to train.

Indie’s nicknames are: Beefy Boy, Indiana Jones, Brave Heart, BudBud, Barracuda (when playing with Shanti), Superman!

Indie’s Vice: Eating pine cones, not just one, but every single one he can find, every square inch! Needless to say, we are working hard on the “Leave it!” command.

Shanti (born on September 6th, 2007) is our second Newfie. Shanti is Sanskrit and it means Inner Peace. Shanti is an extremely agile Newfie. She is very sensitive and an absolute sweetheart. Shanti and Indie are related. They are brother and sister. They have the same mom and different dad. Shanti adopted Indie the moment he came home. You can see her in the photo playing with him 2 hours after we brought him home.

Nickname: Stinkerbell, Bunny, BonBon, Chewbacca (when playing with Indie).

Vice: Eating crab on the beach! And lately we have added bird wings to our repetoire!

Maggie In Memoriam 1999 – 2009

Maggie

Maggie

Maggie (February 18th 1999 – March 2nd 2009) was our first Newfie and first dog. Maggie was quite the lady. She was independent, strong willled and had an enormous sense of humor.

We started doing water rescue with Maggie when she was 4 months old with the Northern California Newfoundland Club. Maggie loved water rescue work. Her favorite exercise was “pull the boat”. This exercise incorporated swimming, retrieving and pulling all in one! What more can you ask? We also did agility which was a lot of fun. Her favorite obstacles where the tunnel, jumps and A frame. The dog walk, not so much. The plank is too narrow and she kept missing her step and falling off.

Nicknames: Goofy Newfie, Magster, Mexicana Girl, Big TroubleMaker, Smiley Face.

Vice: Eating extra fermented white, green cayote poo. Yum Yum!

Maggie in Tahoe, California. The first time she saw snow. This was absolutely the coolest thing ever! Sand that is cold, wet and you can run in it and pounce in it! A little bit of a funny camera angle makes her look silly, but she was having a blast!

This is in Lake Bishop, California in Blue Lake at 11,000 feet. The water was freaking cold and Maggie loved it! See her running while retrieving her bumper from the water.
